What is the NESF?

The Newport Elementary School Foundation (NESF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that funds programs to enhance the educational experience of the kids at Newport Elementary.  State budget cuts to education have meant that non-profit organizations such as the NESF have had to fill in the financial gap so that our students can continue to be exposed to art, music and technology in a meaningful way.  Our mission is to ensure that our children receive the best elementary education possible, despite budget cuts and leaner times. 

The NESF spends its funds on programs and faculty that would otherwise not be available due to budget constraints.  The programs that the NESF has committed to for the 2008-2009 school year include, but are not limited to:

• Full-Time Technology TOSA (Teacher on Special Assignment)
• Literacy & Mathematic Enrichment
• Classroom Aid
• The Art Masters Program
• Extended Library Hours
• Drama & ACE Programs

All of this is only made possible by funds raised from our community.  Every dollar you invest in your membership in the NESF is 100% tax deductible. 

During the 2007-2008 school year the NESF raised $100,000 through its membership drive, which helped to invest roughly $475.00 in each child at Newport Elementary School.  100+ families joined the Foundation as members last year, a record level.  Our goal is to keep that momentum going!

Enthusiasm for school, development of good study skills and a love of learning start early.  We know that many requests come your way for support and donations from a variety of organizations.  We believe this is one of the most important causes you can support: children's education.  By joining the Newport Elementary School Foundation, and becoming actively involved, you are sending a message to children that education is important to you.
